I was browsing the Océan Virtuel fora when I came across a Google Earth model of the Vendée Globe. At the time I checked it, there was an error in race leader Loïc Peyon’s position – his boat was shown tucked right into the Gulf of Guinea – but I’ve e-mailed the creator to tell him. He’s hunting for thebug, and may have fixed it by the time you try it.
He models all the marks, associated info about each skipper, and the track of each boat. Try it:

There are two links. The first downloads data and opens it in Google Earth, and the second provides a slider-driven animation of the boat movements.
