A quick look through today’s Vendée reports left me with a few smiles:
- Roland Jourdain’s photo of himself in hitch-hiking pose, with a placard marked ‘Ice Gates’ (in French).
- Sam Davies seems to attract squids, and they’re getting bigger as she enters colder waters.
And a bit of sympathy:
- Jonny Malbon must still be wonderinhg what to do about the dagger board he broke hitting a whale
- Dee has a swollen knee
- Rich Wilson re-cracked a rib, but says he has been able to enter and leave his bunk at last. For 3 weeks he has been curling up on the chart table
- Brian Thompson could do with one or two extra hands on Pindar to help him hand his damaged foresail. He points out that Pindar (probably the most powerful boat in this year’s Vendée fleet) carries as much mast and sail as an Ocean 70, which has ten times the crew.
