The Phoenix rises
A long time ago, I created France For Freebooters as a hobby site with the mission to ’show you things you’d never find’ in France. It was intended for the independent traveller in France, and made use of input from a number of travel writer friends as well as my own stuff (written while I was living in Botswana, although we had bought a derelict French cottage by then).
I found that I was publishing quite a bit of stuff that had nothing to do with France, and I got fed up with cleaning up after Front Page, so a little later I launched Don’t Stop The World (I’m enjoying the ride) , written directly in HTML and CSS - then everything went quiet while we got out of Africa and installed ourselves permanently in our still rather rudimentary house in the Limousin.
Last year, I started to play with blogs, and now I am using WordPress for many different purposes. Publishing in a blogging environement changes the way you think about web sites and makes it far easier to communicate with people, and this site will carry on where the old Freebooters and Don’t Stop the World left off. I’ll be re-publishing a lot of the old material (generally with a few changes in the process), but I shall also publish plenty of new stuff - thanks to support from old contributors and from several new ones.
I hope you enjoy it.
