Hi, Will. I've always wanted to sail in Chesapeake Bay, but never had the chance. perhaps you'd find the Micromegas boats a little slow - 5 knots is a typial cruising speed for them, but since Micromegas 5 is a few inches longer than a Hobie but weighs in at well over a ton when loaded up for a transatlantic crossing, that's still pretty good. Since she is basically a pair of surfboards with accommodation, she could be pushed quite fast unloaded, but that's not their goal on an ocean voyage. If you are on Facebook, why not apply to join the group MICROMEGAS. There are quite a few English speakers, although the majority of the conversations are in French.

i, too, am a sailing junky, biased towards multihulls, speed (not scary speed) is better than too slow(like 10 to 12 knots, opposed to 3 to 8 knots) started sailing cats and small craft at a young age, in a tributray of the Chesapeake Bay, in Virginia. Good stuff here, a nice collection. Minimalist cruising is my focus now ( ala Micromegas 1 thru 6? and the like)
